I’ve been off taking some personal time trying to battle these winter blues. Spending time with my family, which means cooking for my family. Today we decided to have breakfast for lunch, I mean breakfast is good anytime of day!
One thing I hate about cooking breakfast is making bacon. It makes our apartment smell, it covers everything in a 5 foot radius with grease and worst of all you have to avoid getting splashed by hot grease. So today we finally tested out making bacon in the oven – or Bakon as I am now calling it! 😂 And I have to say I’m never going back to frying my bacon.
You will never find an easier way to make your bacon! Not only is it easier, but there is less mess as well and who doesn’t love that! Plus, you’re NOT sacrificing crisp or flavor with this method.
Bakon How To:
The first step is not fully necessary but will make your life easier, line a baking sheet with foil.
You’ll thank me later! Not only will this prevent any sticking of the bacon, but clean up will be a breeze!
Next line up your bacon with minimal over lapping. If the strips curl up the edges that’s okay because once they shrink the strips will fit on the sheet just fine.
You are officially done with prep! Man that was easy! Go ahead and slide that baking sheet into the oven for 15-20 minutes at 375° – depending on how crispy you like bacon. If you use think cut bacon you’ll want to add a few minutes.
From there I transferred my bacon strips to a paper towel to help soak up any excess grease. Cooling helps add some crunch – but let’s face it fresh hot bacon is best!
Just remove foil and you’re done! How simple and easy is that. At the most you many have to wipe down the baking sheet incase any grease found its way under the foil liner.
Making bacon in the oven is a great mess free alternative. Same great flavor but less mess, grease and hassle. Not to mention safer since you won’t have hot grease flying out of a pan at you! Give it a try you won’t be disappointed! Let me know if you’ve made the switch to oven bacon as well.
